Chapter 9 NEW SCHOOLS

Chapter 9

According to the text, the new 21st century classrooms will engage students in developing technology programs to assist in their learning. The authors detail educational software and [programs that teachers can use to modify their students’ learning styles. These programs will allow teachers to move from the outdated teacher-centered instruction to the up to date student centered learning instruction. The idea of David Warlick (2006c) will introduce blogs to students to maintain their class assignments, instructions, grades, discussions, topics, and other instructional lessons present in their classes. This method allows teachers to move from the paper form of data to incorporate into curriculum mapping for the school. The most important factor for instruction using Web 2.0 is finding meaningful, valid, and useful sources on the internet to facilitate instruction. The internet has a plethora of information on all different topics and contents but to find something that is effective can be time consuming. According to Chris Anderson’s 2006 book, The Long Tail, explains that today’s opportunities for finding exactly the right book, piece of music, video, or other object are possible because of the Web’s endless supply.
